Art
Projects develop and enhance a child's fine motor skills. It is also an avenue for the child to experiment with and develop their own sense of creativity. Pride and excitement in their completed work helps to foster a child's ever emerging self-esteem.
Music
The children experience a wide variety of skills through our varied music program. Rhyming songs and poems help the child to improve both his listening & skills and memory skills. Singing for enjoyment in small and large groups allows the child to develop a love of music. Movement songs and activities encourage the child to further develop both gross and fine motor skills.
Reading Readiness
Our program exposes the children to consonant while emphasizing listening skills and verbal expression. We use a letter of the week approach to reading readiness. We introduce tile letters with a puppet and alliterations. In developmental readiness each child takes from the puppet activity what they are ready for (initial consonant, letter recognition, or just a puppet show). Readiness, story and art projects reflect the letter the children are studying each week.
Language Arts
Story time is an integral part of the day, children can relax on couches and enjoy a story while developing listening and language skills.
Math Readiness
Before children can understand Math they need many readiness skills; patterning, sorting, and spatial relationships to name a few. Through block play, puzzles, using manipulative, calendar activities and patterning they achieve the necessary readiness skills.
Free Play
A child's social development is fostered through free play. Teachers provide a stimulating environment for the children to develop this skill. Many and varied activity centers are available for the children to experience. Some examples are art table, puzzles, housekeeping, duplos (trains), cornmeal and water tables, blocks, painting and many more. While they are enjoying themselves they are enhancing many skills. They are developing social skills, and emotional security while in a nurturing and loving school environment.
Outdoor Play
This is a chance for the child to develop social skills, fine and gross motor skills as well as have fun. Our playground has many areas for succeeding with these skills. There are swings, climbing structures, slides, sand and a wooden train. "
